Newcastle Wrestling Club has recently been set up to promote the Olympic sport of wrestling in the North East of England and encourage young people to take up the sport. Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling beginner/ advanced classes for children, women and adults. This will develop your self confidence, esteem and discipline.

On Saturday 22 May 2010, 25 years old Terence Bosson representing Newcastle Wrestling Club part of Sports-for-youth Newcastle took part in the English Senior Wrestling Championship. The event which was the Commonwealth games qualifying competition at Birmingham NEC to select competitors to represent England in the games taking place in India 3 to 14 October 2010.
Following a tough and rigorous competition, Terence Bosson in the 60kg category battled hard and was successful in becoming the silver medalist in his 60kg weight category. As a result, Terence Bosson has been invited to represent England in the Commonwealth Games.
Terence Bosson was very delighted at this great news and he states that “qualifying for the Commonwealth Games to represent England in India is a great honour for me. The competition was intense and although I am disappointed that I did not win in my weight category, losing to the eventual winner, I am elated that I will be representing Newcastle and England in the Commonwealth Games in India”
Gerard Mboungo who is Terence Bosson coach and Chief Executive Officer of Newcastle Wrestling Club and Sports-for-youth Newcastle also states that Terence’s achievement is a real boost for the club. Gerard goes on to say that “Terence’s success demonstrates Sports-for-Youth commitment to creating sporting, social and educational opportunities for young people (13-25 years old) living in deprived areas of Newcastle. Apart from promoting physical health, the ethos of Sports-for-Youth is to transform lives by building self-esteem; promoting sustained social inclusion and giving participants sports based achievements, qualifications and employment skills”
NWC is affiliated to British Wrestling Association (click here) to promote Olympic Freestyle Wrestling in the North East Of England. |
